The motif is the whole look, and this is the only shirt on the high street that gets it right: a white ground with small red hearts embroidered — not printed — scattered irregularly across the body and sleeves, on a relaxed oversized cut with a classic collar, a plain placket and a curved shirttail hem. Two honest differences. Amala Paul’s is oatmeal handwoven linen and falls past mid-calf; this is a crisp white cotton and stops at the hip. And her hearts are about the size of a palm where these are closer to an inch. Worn open over the wine trousers below it reads as the same outfit at a glance — just don’t expect the length.
